A special narrow forklift of 22 tonnes for a world leader in heat treatments

For Trater, an Italian leading company in the world for the heat treatment of appliances for the oil & gas, energy, mechanical engineering and transport sectors, Raniero has developed a hydrostatic diesel forklift truck with a capacity of 22t at 1700 mm centre of gravity and a width of only 2800 mm.

Trater’s choice of our solution comes from our ability to develop customized forklifts based on the operational needs expressed by our customers.

Previously, after having subjected blocks of aluminium and steel to heat treatments, the company had to let them first cool down and then move them by crane. In order to reduce the time of the entire process and the risk of injury given the high temperatures of the metals after each treatment, they opted for the choice of a forklift truck.

The situation presented to us was to operate in furnaces less than 3 metres wide, handling sheets of aluminium or steel of more than 20 tonnes with extended load centres.

Our C220 H-17 is a diesel truck with electro-controlled hydrostatic transmission designed for multiple direction changes and short operating radii. With a load capacity of 22 tonnes at 1700 mm centre of gravity, only 2800 mm wide - half a metre less than standard diesel trucks with the same load capacity. Complete with a heavy-duty mast with free lift due to the height limits present inside the furnaces during the lifting phases.

Thanks to our developed solution, Trater is achieving a series of advantages: first of all a greater satisfaction of its customers thanks to a reduction of the delivery times of the treated materials. An increase in economies of scale due to a growing number of thermal processes. An improvement in the safety level of their employees and a reduction in the number of people involved in the loading and unloading of the furnaces.
